Professional Summary
Dr. Victor was President of the Association for Business Communication from 1996-1997. He has received 6 grants from a variety of sources including the US Department of Education and the Federal Government of Canada. David has published over 90 pieces ranging from journal articles and encyclopedia entries to an interactive CD-ROM on International Negotiations for the American Bar Association. His book on International Business Communication was the first book published on the subject in the United States. In 1992, Dr. Victor was the first recipient of the Distinguished Visiting Foreign Professorship (Graduate Level) of the Instituto Tecnologico y Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. He also represented the United States in the formation of the Regional Area Mobility Program (RAMP) of the NAFTA initiative of the IIE bringing together business education partnerships and exchanges among the US, Canada and Mexico (of which EMU is still an active member). Also, when he and his colleagues at Eastern Michigan University designed and first introduced EMU’s course on Managing World Business Communication, it was among the first time the subject was taught as a regular offering in an AACSB-accredited school. He has consulted since the mid-1980’s, mostly in the area of international business communication, expatriate relocation and diversity management for a range of clients including school systems, hospital networks and city governments as well as a wide range of companies in the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan and Europe including GEMA, Bayer, General Motors, Ford, Bosch, Nissan, Continental, Lear, Yazaki, IBM, Spartan Stores, Metaldyne, American Axle and Thyssen Krupp.

Research Interest & Projects
Dr. Victor is Director of International Business Programs for the College of Business. He teaches a range of International Business Courses in the new EMU International Business Degree, including the "Doing Business In..." seminar series. He is also a full professor in the Department of Management where he teaches International Management, Managing World Business Communication, Business Communication and Management Responsibility and Ethics. His research interests are in the areas of conflict management, international differences in organizational structure, cross-cultural business communication and the relationship between headquarters and subsidiaries in the multinational corporation.
