Professional Summary
Dr. Asrat Tessema is a Professor of Finance at Eastern Michigan University. Professor Tessema served as a department head of Finance from 1989 to 1992 and as head of the department of Finance and Computer Information Systems from 1992 to 1996. In 1993 he participated in the Harvard's Management Development Program for senior university administrators and was a Fulbright Scholar at Addis Ababa University's Faculty of Business and Economics during the 1997/1998 academic year. In April of 2000 Professor Tessema won a distinguished alumni award from Minnesota State University. Professor Tessema's main areas of teaching and research interests are corporate finance and investments. Professor Tessema has published research papers in the American Business Review, Journal of Financial Education, Journal of International Finance, Mid-American Journal of Business, Journal of Global Business, African Development Review, The International Journal of Finance and in several conference proceedings; and a chapter in a book. He has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Financial Education and the Mid-American Journal of Business. He is the treasurer of the Ethiopian American Educational Foundation.
