Dr. Tubbs won the Outstanding Leadership Award in London, England in 1994 from the Academy of Business Administration. He is the author of A Systems Approach to Small Group Interaction (7th edition, 2001); Leadership: Communication, Innovation and Change, 2002; and co-author (with Sylvia Moss) of Human Communications (9th edition, 2003). Dr. Tubbs consults for numerous corporations and is also a contributing editor for the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies.

Dr. Tubbs is the former Dean of the College of Business and teaches in the leadership and managerial communication areas and has won four awards for outstanding teaching at the University of Kansas, General Motors Institute, Boise State University and Eastern Michigan University.
