Masters of Science in Human Resources and Organizational Development
EMU is a leader in Human Resource Education in Southeast Michigan. We provide all of the SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management) professional education and certification courses and were the first University to offer a Master Degree in Human Resource Management and Organizational Development in China. Our student chapter of SHRM has been designated as one of the top ten in the country and our HRGames teams have won state and regional competitions. Also, our SHRM Chapter Advisor, Dr. Fraya Wagner-Marsh, SPHR, GPHR, was selected as national SHRM Advisor of the year.
The goals of this degree are to train students to plan, implement, and manage change processes, whether working within an organization (managerial or staff support) or as external consultants. It will also equip students to match organizational with human resource needs, and to implement systems related to structure, process, and human resources. At the same time, this program will enable students to understand and apply human resource and organizational development techniques. Students will also become familiar with the interrelationships between the fields of human resource management and organizational development, and with ways to use each to improve the other. They will also be expected to contribute to the knowledge base of behavioral and organizational theory and practice. Finally, students will enjoy the community with access to the expertise of faculty and students
